USCAP Appoints Rhonda Yantiss, MD, as Editor-in-Chief of Modern Pathology
PALM SPRINGS, CA — The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology is honored to welcome Rhonda K. Yantiss, MD, of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, as the new Editor-in-Chief of its clinical and translational research journal, Modern Pathology, as of January 1, 2025.
Dr. Yantiss is well-qualified to lead the journal to its next level of prominence. Her vision for the evolution of Modern Pathology will allow the journal to stay abreast of the rapidly evolving specialty and become the authority for best practices in surgical pathology. Dr. Yantiss also plans to use the journal as an educational tool to help young pathologists think more critically, and aims to engage USCAP’s companion societies in a relationship that promotes peer-reviewed content from emerging and established leaders.
Dr. Yantiss will replace George J. Netto, MD, who spent five years as Editor-in-Chief. USCAP is deeply grateful to Dr. Netto for bringing his vision and expertise to the journal. Most notably, he widened the scope of Modern Pathology to include emerging predictive biomarkers for immune therapy, the impact of machine learning and artificial intelligence on digital pathology, applied informatics, genomics and precision diagnostics.
“Under Dr. Netto’s leadership, Modern Pathology emerged as the highest ranked pathology research journal that covers all sub-specialties*,” said Dr. Yantiss. “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve as a Senior Associate Editor during his term.”
