Advancing Global Pathology Through Education, Collaboration, and Mentorship

A five-week immersive educational experience for pathologists from under-resourced countries.

About the Program

The USCAP University Partnership Program (U²P²) extends USCAP’s commitment to advancing pathology education and supporting future pathology leaders around the world.

As an extension of the USCAP Global Partner Travel Award Program, U²P² provides selected pathologists from under-resourced countries with the opportunity to attend the USCAP Annual Meeting and participate in a four-week observership at a leading academic pathology institution.

Through mentorship, subspecialty exposure, and immersive learning experiences, participants gain knowledge, skills, and professional connections that can strengthen pathology education and practice within their home institutions and communities.

Due to the highly individualized nature of the program, only two participants are selected each year.

The U²P² Experience

U²P² combines a week-long Annual Meeting experience with a four-week observership, creating a unique five-week educational opportunity.

How the Program Works

U²P² program steps

  1. Step 1:

    Global Partner Travel Award

    Pathologists apply for and are selected as recipients of the USCAP Global Partner Travel Award.

  2. Step 2:

    Invitation to Apply

    Global Partner Travel Award recipients are invited to apply for the following year’s U²P² cohort.

    Example: Recipients of the 2027 Global Partner Travel Award become eligible to apply for the 2028 U²P² Program.

  3. Step 3:

    Selection Process

    Applications are reviewed by the U²P² Selection Committee. A select group of finalists is invited to participate in interviews during the USCAP Annual Meeting.

  4. Step 4:

    Matching Process

    Selected participants are matched with a host institution based on educational goals, subspecialty interests, institutional needs, and overall program fit.

  5. Step 5:

    The U²P² Experience

    Participants attend the following year’s USCAP Annual Meeting and then travel directly to their host institution to begin a four-week observership.

  6. Step 6:

    Long-Term Impact

    Participants complete a post-program evaluation and participate in one- and two-year follow-up assessments to help measure the program’s educational and institutional impact.
