USCAP Welcome Residents Presentation
USCAP is revered for more than its delivery of superb educational content and the latest in translational research. It is respected for its core values of ensuring legacy, succession, and mentoring of pathologists-in-training who represent the next generation in the evolution of diagnostic, clinically-oriented, laboratory-derived members of modern health care delivery teams. Our incentive, if not obligation, is caring for young pathologists as they traverse their learning curves and career paths. We sustain ourselves by sharing knowledge, techniques, values, and ethical professional imperatives with pathologists who take their first steps to submit an abstract, engage in interventional techniques, study the molecular and genetic basis of complicated diseases, and learn that patients are at the center of everything we do. Our interactive and didactic courses, digital educational assets, and networking opportunities are invaluable to personal and professional growth. Veteran pathologists remember their first USCAP meeting with a profound sense of awe about its complexity and vibrancy, its kinetic energy and diversity of information, and the intuitive reassurance of what a gift it is to be a pathologist. The Academy’s modern attitude towards social media and digital delivery of educational products is directed at residents and fellows who aspire to become experts in their subspecialty interests. Helping young pathologists to realize their dreams is a strong component of a strategic plan that makes the Academy a universal resource.
