Medical Student Travel Award

2027 ANNUAL MEETING APPLICATIONS OPEN FALL 2026

The Gokden Fund for Medical Student Engagement in Pathology supports the future of the field by encouraging medical students to explore pathology. Its first initiative is the 2027 Medical Student Travel Award, which will help students attend the USCAP Annual Meeting, March 13–18, 2027, in Vancouver, BC.

This award is the starting point of a larger effort to connect with and inspire future pathologists.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• Applicant must be the first author of an abstract(s) accepted for presentation at the 2026 USCAP Annual Meeting.
• Applicant must be enrolled in a medical school in the United States or Canada.

EACH TRAVEL AWARD INCLUDES:

• $1,000 reimbursement check
• Registration for the Medical Student Genomics Workshop
• Complimentary one-year membership at USCAP
• Complimentary registration for the 2027 Annual Meeting
• A facilitated mentorship opportunity with a pathology resident, including an in-person meeting during the 2027 Annual Meeting

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• The award is not eligible for transfer to another recipient or for use in a different year.
• Reimbursement checks will be distributed at the 2027 Annual Meeting in Vancouver, BC.
• Recipients must attend the meeting in person to receive the award.
• Recipients are responsible for making all of their own flight and transportation arrangements.
